From Europe to New Zealand: HealthyW8 Presented at ISBNPA 2025

HealthyW8 was featured in three sessions at ISBNPA 2025 in Auckland. Sarah Forberger (BIPS) and Suzan Evers (TU/e) presented our work on digital nudges and obesity prevention. A proud moment for the consortium at the world’s leading nutrition and physical activity conference.

We’re proud to share that two colleagues from the HealthyW8 consortium — Sarah Forberger from the Leibniz Institute for Prevention Research and Epidemiology (BIPS) and Suzan Evers from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) — recently represented the project at the ISBNPA 2025 Annual Meeting in Auckland, New Zealand.

As the leading international conference focused on nutrition and physical activity behaviour, ISBNPA provides a key platform to exchange ideas, present innovative research, and foster global collaboration in the field of public health. It was a great achievement for HealthyW8 to be featured in three different sessions.

Sarah and Suzan contributed to the symposium "Advancing Multidisciplinary and Cross-Border Collaboration in Obesity Prevention in Europe", where they presented alongside colleagues from other projects within the OBEClust Network — a European cluster of research initiatives addressing obesity through various lenses.

The session included:

  • OBCT, presented by Jeroen Lakerveld (Amsterdam UMC)
  • BETTER4U, presented by Maria Kafyra (Harokopio University of Athens)
  • HealthyW8, presented by Sarah Forberger and Suzan Evers
  • Commentary provided by Leslie Johnson (Emory University)

In addition to the symposium:

  • Suzan Evers presented a poster on "Contextual Nudges for Healthy Behaviours: Exploring Real-Time, Location-Based Interventions in Obesogenic Environments".
  • Sarah Forberger delivered an oral presentation on "Exploring Digital Nudges and Recommender Systems for Obesity Prevention and Physical Activity Promotion: A Scoping Review".

A Week of Exchange, Inspiration, and Culture

Beyond the scientific contributions, the event was enriched by a strong sense of cultural engagement — including reflections rooted in the vibrant Māori traditions of Aotearoa New Zealand. Sarah and Suzan also connected with colleagues from the eprObes project, fostering new links for future collaboration.

We warmly thank ISBNPA for an inspiring conference and extend our congratulations to Sarah and Suzan for their excellent representation of HealthyW8. Their contributions help advance our mission to harness digital tools, recommender systems, and behavioural nudges in the fight against obesity.
