HealthyW8 joins World Obesity Day 2025, supporting the theme "Changing Systems, Healthier Lives." To mark the occasion, the project has released a special video interview with an expert dietitian, discussing systemic barriers to obesity prevention.

Today, March 4th, marks World Obesity Day, a global initiative dedicated to raising awareness about obesity, its root causes, and the need for systemic change to improve public health. At HealthyW8, we are proud to support this year’s theme: "Changing Systems, Healthier Lives."
Why Systems Matter in Tackling Obesity
Obesity is not just about personal choices—it is influenced by the broader healthcare, food, and social systems we live in. From the availability of nutritious food to healthcare policies that prioritize treatment over prevention, multiple factors make it harder for individuals to maintain a healthy weight. That’s why this year’s World Obesity Day focuses on transforming these systems to create healthier environments for everyone.
HealthyW8: Innovating Obesity Prevention
At HealthyW8, we believe that prevention is key to tackling obesity effectively. Our project is developing an innovative digital lifestyle recommender system, designed to provide personalized guidance on:
- Nutrition – Encouraging balanced, sustainable eating habits
- Physical Activity – Promoting movement that fits individual lifestyles
- Mental Well-Being – Addressing psychological factors influencing weight.
By considering all these aspects, our approach goes beyond traditional weight management strategies and helps individuals achieve lasting, healthier lives.
Special Interview: Discussing Systemic Barriers to Health
To mark World Obesity Day 2025, we have produced a special video interview featuring one of our expert dietitians, Konstantina Togka from The European Nutrition for Health Alliance (ENHA). In this insightful discussion, she explores:
- Why transforming systems is crucial for tackling obesity
- The key factors beyond willpower that influence weight
- How the food industry impacts healthy eating choices
- Why healthcare must shift from treatment to prevention
